Hey guys!
It has been a month since our Run against climate change. Again, we would like to thank all of you for supporting the event .
Before the year ends, we are having the second instalment of the series of environmental projects our batch is organising for this semester. If the run was called UmPISahang Tumakbo Laban sa Pagbabago ng Klima, our Climate Change Talk is titled UmPISahang Manindigan Laban sa Pagbabago ng Klima. It will be held at the UPIS library in highschool on December 16TH (this Wednesday) from 8:00 to 10:00AM.
The UPIS Peer Facilitators Club is helping us out in this project. They are in charge of setting up the venue, inviting participants and publicity of the activity. For our part, we have invited speakers from Haribon, National Defense College of the Philippines, House of Representatives and Greenpeace.
Mrs. Beatriz Reyes-Baril is the membership strategist of Haribon Foundation. She will be giving a brief overview of climate change and its effect on our local flora and fauna.
Mr. Clarence Dugenia is the chief of the Crisis Management Institute of the National Defense College of the Philippines. He will share how prepared but vulnerable we are if another monster typhoon hits our country.
Mr. Raul A. Balmores is a political affairs officer of Hon. Ignacio T. Arroyo. The latter is the chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources. He will be discussing existing environmental laws.
Mr. Albert Lozano is the SolarGen coordinator of Greenpeace, Philippines. His department is in charge of their group's Youth Movement. He will be presenting energy efficiency tips and will be showcasing several solar gadgets available in the market.
It is actually UPIS Week so there will be a lot of events in school. There will be several practical arts activities at the multipurpose hall; there will be group presentations elsewhere... but if you are free and you would like to spend your time wisely, join us at the library for a short talk on climate change.
